Blood of the Maple

Title:Blood of the Maple
Publisher:Carina Press
Pub Date:04/11/2011
ISBN:9781426891441
A seduction-gone-wrong leaves vampire Parker Hollis with a new vegetarian lifestyle and on the run from a vengeful witch. Moving to small-town Maggie's Grove, Parker meets a redheaded dryad with green, leafy blood that draws him in a way he hasn't experienced in decades. His new neighbor smells divine, and it isn't long before craving gives in to need.
In a unique community of supernaturals, tree-loving outcast Amara Schwedler has never quite fit in. She's scarred by a traumatic incident and feared by the local townsfolk. She's convinced Parker will look elsewhere for a mate once he discovers she's not one of the O-positive set, and can't believe it when Parker finds her irresistible.
When the witch who's been plaguing Parker's life discovers the newfound attraction between Parker and Amara, she takes out her anger on the town. Can the supernaturals of Maggie's Grove accept Amara and band together in time to withstand the assaults of the enraged witch?

How to explain this book.....Wow...There really isn't a bunch of word that come to mind. I really didn't want to put it down. This book combines everything into one. You have your Vampire who is curse but a witch to only drink "Leafy Blood", you have your love sick witch turned into god knows what searching for her lost Vamp. Then of course you have your sweet love interest Amara....Ahhhhhh....a bit naive, but one hell of a woman....LOL
Not to mention the werewolves, the driads , and all the other "creatures" that live in that wonderful town of Maggie's Grove....No wonder Parker's Best friend the now Ghost said to move there!
What I can say from this book is every single page of this book is full of action! From the get go, this story has you and doesn't let you down. Further more it eludes to a future book, which it would be awesome.
I enjoyed many parts of the book my favorite had to be the roses doing the macarena, I could just picture a bunch of rose bushes up and dancing in my head...LOL
Or when Parker was left talking to the tree alone...that was a cute moment as well.
Totally an amazing job done by this author. The Characters are well thought out, the scenes are wonderful and the story is brilliant.

TurboCharged

TurboCharged by Dian Griesel, Ph.D. and Tom Griesel
ISBN: 978-1936705009
Publisher: Business School of Happiness Inc.
Date of publish: March 21, 2011
Pages: 224
S.R.P.: $24.95

Product Description

TurboCharged By Dian Griesel, Ph.D. and Tom Griesel According to these boomer-generation authors, every diet to date is destined to deliver loss of lean muscle mass, moodiness, disappointment and failure. Instead, Dian and Tom provide an exciting new road map using a unique 8-step program that has been called "the Holy Grail of Fat Loss" and even the "Fountain of Youth." Building on an exotic car metaphor, their system requires no strenuous exercise, supplements or special equipment. They show readers how to get on the road to eliminate excess body fat fast and forever. Within 3 days the program promises to: begin training your body to use excess body fat for energy; show everyday activities that will quickly accelerate fat-loss; teach mini-exercises requiring only 3-5 minutes each day that will trigger fat-burning while strengthening muscle; explain the ideal foods and how to eat them to burn your body fat fast; eliminate any related diet anxiety or moodiness; prove that you are truly getting younger; and, provide easy ways to maintain your new lean and healthy body with minimal effort for life. An excerpt from the Foreword by Fred Pescatore, MD, MPH, CCN, author of The Hampton's Diet says, "TurboCharged doesn't bog down the reader with lots of science. Instead, it tells you what to do, when to do it, and if you follow the very simple guidelines, you too will be dropping fat fast, leaning out and attaining your goal of a lower body-fat percentage, decreases in inches and a younger metabolic age. TurboCharged is a system designed with genetics in mind and based on sound science. With a combination like that, you can't fail." Sister and brother, Dian and Tom Griesel have spent the last 30 years working with renowned scientific researchers while studying health, exercise, longevity and stress management. Both are in their 50s according to the calendar, yet can prove that they are not only leaner and stronger but are now metabolically teenagers as a result of the TurboCharged steps they share with readers. TurboCharged is a simple, practical, easy-to-implement holistic lifestyle program for everyone. Testimonials from 35 to 80 year olds abound! Early readers comment... Harvey Schiller, PhD., Brig. Gen, USAF, Ret, Former CEO, United States Olympic Committee says, "Finally you can toss the exercise DVDs, failed diet programs, useless equipment and take control of your body! TurboCharged is what we've all been waiting for: a simple approach to better living and a powerful new lifestyle." Harvard psychiatrist, Srini Pillay, MD, best-selling author of Life Unlocked says, "For dieters, from both a psychological and medical perspective--this one's the Holy Grail."

So, yes I know right now you are looking at this and going " OH...Yea another freakin DIET BOOK...time to click to the next blog" Please don't yet. Give me a second or two (well maybe four since I tend to babble)
I decided to give this book a chance since I've been down the road of Lord knows how many diets and healthy eating life styles and got NO WHERE.  So I thought what was one more book to say I was fat and doing everything wrong. Little did I realize that this book didn't get on my case for not getting off my butt and going to the gym and exercising for 30-90 minutes...To Quote them:
"Exercise 30-90 minutes for maximum fat-burning benefits. (Sounds exhausting to us)"
That was just on page 3...so of course I had to read the rest....OMG!
If they say that it can't be that bad right?
Nothing about this book is hard to follow and actually it all really makes a lot of sense.

So much so that I myself decided to go for it and follow it.......
I've been only following this book for about 7 days now and I've been missing 11 pounds...
PLEASE DO NOT RETURN IF FOUND!!!!!!
(I just think how much body fat that is....YUCK!!!!!)
Before you ask.....NO I'm not starving actually it's the opposite!
I'm actually full....I eat my meat, veggies and lots of fruits....it's great.
So much so that the other day while shopping I saw this sun dress that I thought for sure wouldn't fit....Guess what.....
IT FIT and IT LOOKED FREAKIN AWESOME!!!
(So I had to buy SHOES too...LOL)
Oh so I bet you now want your own copy right?????

Guarding a Notorious Lady

Title:Guarding a Notorious Lady
Publisher:HarperCollins
Imprint:Avon
Pub Date:05/31/2011
ISBN:9780061988400
A woman of pristine breeding, Lady Rosalind Devine is also an unrepentant meddler and snoop -- which is why her brother refuses to leave her to her own devices while on his wedding trip. But Rosalind will not make things easy for any unseen, unwanted "nursemaid" -- and vows to use her considerable wiles to expose her mystery guardian.

Nicholas Kincaid agreed to secretly guard his friend's spoiled, stubborn sister, but her infuriating penchant for mischief is causing him to question his decision. Though bound by the rules of society -- and friendship --Rosalind's spirit and sensuality have sparked a fierce desire in Nicholas to play a very different role in her life, one that promises passion, ecstasy . . . and unavoidable scandal.

This was a cute little read.
The story on a whole was rather fun to follow along. Poor Nicholas, the things he had to go through....Once Rosalind found out he found out he was her protector she made sure he was going to pay.
Rosalind as a character is strong willed, knows exactly whats she wants and in the same sense still naive!!!....I really liked her.
Nicholas was a Scot, which I like for the eye-candy idea of it, he had high moral standards and was very loyal......Very lovable!!!!
As the story progress you just fell in with what was coming next, it was like you were part of the story. Simple and sweet.
There was a lot going on in this story that you couldn't help get involved in this story. From the men calling with tons of flowers and gifts to the crazy bets as to who would marry Rosalind to the Stalker. Nicholas really did have his hands full, even without Rosalind's naive sense of security.
I really did love when Miss Polk showed up in London.....Rosalind's reaction was the best....LOL
So does it all work out??? Hmmmm?? Do I ever tell the endings here??
I would totally recommend this for a relaxing day by the beach or the pool.....or even on the blanket in the park.....
